Stain-Fighting Tips and Tricks For Halloween Stains

The first step to successful stain removal is identifying what the stain is. There are four main categories of stains based on their chemical composition and how they interact with different cleaning agents:

  • Protein-based stains (e.g., blood, sweat, baby formula)
  • Tannin or plant-based stains (e.g. coffee, red wine, fruit juices, tomato-based sauces)
  • Oil-based stains (e.g., cooking oil, makeup, deodorant)
  • Dye-based stains (e.g., grass, food coloring, marker)

The group the stain in question falls under will dictate the best treatment to break it down. Of course, many stains fit into more than one category, often demanding a combination of solutions to get the job done.

That’s where Truly Free Home Laundry Stain Spray, Truly Free Home Stain Stick, Truly Free Home Enzyme Stain Remover, and Truly Free Home OxyBoost come in. Each one is packed with safe, highly-effective compounds that work together to pull off a disappearing act—even on the toughest stains.

Here’s how to remove the most common Halloween stains.

1. How to Remove Chocolate Stains

What you need:

Instructions:

  1. Gently scrape off any chocolate remnants using a spoon or dull knife.
  2. Run the back of the affected area under cold water.
  3. Generously pre-treat the stain with Truly Free Home Laundry Stain Spray, then let it sit for five minutes or longer (depending on how tough the stain is) to give the non-toxic formula time to work its hocus pocus.
  4. Wash the item of clothing according to its fabric care instructions using Truly Free Home Laundry Wash, plus a scoop of Truly Free Home Enzyme Stain Remover for an extra stain-eliminating boost.
  5. Let it air dry (drying it with heat can set the stain, making it permanent or much more challenging to remove).
  6. If the chocolate stain remains, repeat steps 3 and 4, or consider using Truly Free Home OxyBoost as a pre-soak.

2. How to Remove Pumpkin Stains

What you need:

Instructions:

  1. Gently scrape off any excess pumpkin using a spoon or dull knife.
  2. Run the back of the affected area under cold water.
  3. Apply Truly Free Home Laundry Stain Spray or a mixture of Truly Free Home Dish Soap and water to the pumpkin stain.
  4. Wash the garment using Truly Free Home Laundry Wash.
  5. Air dry it.
  6. If the pumpkin stain remains, repeat steps 3 and 4.

3. How to Remove Makeup Stains

What you need:

Instructions:

  1. Using a clean white cloth soaked in cold water, blot the makeup stain to lift surface oils. Avoid any rubbing to prevent it from spreading further.
  2. Wet the Truly Free Home Stain Stick, then work it directly into the stain until it forms a lather.
  3. Rinse the stain with warm water to ensure the stain has disappeared.
  4. Wash the item of clothing as usual with Truly Free Home Laundry Wash.
  5. Allow it to air dry.
  6. If the makeup stain persists, reapply the Truly Free Home Stain Stick or use Truly Free Home OxyBoost as a pre-soak before washing with Truly Free Home Laundry Wash again.

4. How to Remove Candle Wax Stains

What you need:

Instructions:

  1. Allow the candle wax to cool and harden. To speed up the process, put the article of clothing in the refrigerator or place an ice pack over the wax.
  2. Gently scrape off as much hardened wax as possible using a spoon or dull knife.
  3. If there is dye from the candle, treat it with Truly Free Home Laundry Stain Spray or Truly Free Home Stain Stick, then rinse with cold water.
  4. Wash the item of clothing as usual with Truly Free Home Laundry Wash, plus a scoop of Truly Free Home Enzyme Stain Remover.
  5. Let it air dry until you’re sure the stain is gone.
  6. If the candle wax stain remains, repeat steps 3 and 4 as necessary.

5. How to Remove Fake Blood Stains

What you need:

Instructions:

  1. Dab up as much of the fake blood as possible with a clean and dry white cloth.
  2. Hold the back of the stained area under cold water.
  3. Apply Truly Free Home Laundry Stain Spray directly on it, wait 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Wash the item per its care label with cold water and Truly Free Home Laundry Wash.
  5. Set it aside to air dry.
  6. If the fake blood stain is old or dried, try soaking the garment overnight with Truly Free Home OxyBoost.
